Founders Day Parking Success

THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS!See the source image

It takes a lot of people working shifts for 2 days to make the magic happen and Debra Maddox and her team made it happen.  Debra has spent more than a month signing up volunteers and working on schedules to get all of the shifts for all the parking entrances covered.  A special thank you to our van drivers and donors.  Our club had huge participation numbers and we are grateful for each of you.

A special shout out to Broadway Bank to makes donations to employees who volunteer. Glenn Wash chose to have Broadway's donation designated to our club foundation.  Thank you Glenn and Broadway Bank!

DS ISD Bond 2018

DS ISD's $132M Bond 2018 - Without raising the tax rate!

Election Day May 5

Dr. Bruce Gearing showed a great video on the details of the bond and you can get all the facts at:
Early voting started April 23rd and will run through May 1.  The actual election day is May 5th.

Some information from the presentation:
* The District includes:
     7 schools
     6,471 students
     $76,500,000 budget
     198 square miles of coverage
Has added over 1,300 students in 3 years and expects to add another 2,500 in 5 years

The bond proposal was made after including over 100 stakeholders in 10 group meetings and compiling 1 recommendation to the school board.   Due to the economic growth in the form of new construction and increased property values, DS ISD plans to finance this bond using the current tax rate of $1.52 per $100 value.
Here's the proposed spending:
$72 M for new construction ($33M of that is renovation of existing facilities)
$9 M for land acquisition
$7.2 M for maintenance and update of support facilities (including relocation)
$7.6 M for technology updates and new technology

Other items on the ballot include:
North Hays County ESD Sales Tax Election is proposing a .5% sales tax increase to maintain the current level of services.

Club Business 4-23-18

DS Rotary Club Business on 4-23-18

1. Cruise tickets are due today to Karlon
2. An audit of the club and foundation expenses was conducted last week and a report will be presented next week.
3. Diaper drive for Foster Village still going through next week - don't forget to bring diapers or a donation.
4. The Rotary Parking Project for Founders Day needs a lot more volunteers. Debra passed around a sign up sheet and Ashley will be sending out a 'sign-up genius' for times to volunteer.   Phil will get the magnetic signs for the vans to Debra. WE have 2 15-foot signs that will be put up to direct folks to the parking lots.  We will have waters for sale and have 2 awnings up for shade for the volunteers.
5. The changing of the guard is set for June 23rd at Ledgestone - details to follow.  The board voted that this meeting on the 23rd would replace the normal Monday meeting, so NO MEETING ON MONDAY, JUNE 25.
