January Program Line-up:
January 16 - Walt Krudop, President, Hays County ESD #1 and Robert Lamb, District Administrator - Dripping Springs Emergency Service District (ESD)
Walter Krudop, Presdient, Hays County ESD #1 and Robert Lamb, District Administrator will discuss the relationship between the Emergency Service District and the Emergency Medical Service. They will cover the financial and tax issues facing the ESD and the services and capabilities the EMS provides. Our district is unique in that they cover 244 square miles and the travel time from our district to the closest appropriate hospital is quite extended, creating unusual challenges to provide high quality emergency medical services.
January 23 - Scott Burns - Syndicated newspaper columnist and author
Scott Burns is a syndicated newspaper columnist and author who is legendary to the long-time readers of the Dallas Morning News. He is also a recent Dripping Springs transplant. He has covered investments and personal finance for 40 years and is famous for his “Couch Potato Portfolio” investment strategy—a simple approach that allows non-professionals to achieve better results than the vast majority of professional investors. The website “AssetBuilder” which he co-founded, contains many advice-packed articles. In 2012, MIT Press published a book he co-authored, titled “The Clash of Generations: Saving Ourselves, Our Kids, and Our Economy.” Scott Burns has recently written columns on the new proposal to reform Social Security and will discuss that topic with us.
