Rachel Koske and Cole Rickman gave a presentation about the growing theatre arts program at Dripping Springs. Here's some tidbits: * The department now has 3 staff members * Theatre involves a lot of engineering feats to put on a production * The goal is to do great theatre - they just closed Shakespeare's "Much ado about nothing", which put the audience on stage and enjoyed sold out performances. * The goal is to always try to re-invent and expose students to new ways and things. The students are instrumental in problem solving. * 8 students made a trip to Edinburgh, Scotland for the largest arts festival in the world. * Currently working on the Adams Family Musical - which will open January 18-22, they are now in rehearsals. * 400 students in theatre related classes * The department is switching to LED instruments * Rachel and Cole work individually with students to figure out what they want to do and help them with career path development. * The production budget is $24K per year and the booster organization helps with funding. Also students do individual fundraising * The department does 4 large scale productions plus a number of small productions each year. They do a Shakespeare production every other year * The most recognized graduate of this program is Wallie Currie-Wood who portrays Stevie on Madam Secretary
