Rebecca Manzanares, Executive Director of the Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos gave us some great information on this wonderful facility that offers free services to all families in San Marcos or Hays ISD. She is a Mom and realtor who came to the center with extensive background in grant reviews and writing.  Here's some interesting facts:
* The school district is the largest partner and gave the center a 5 year lease at Bonham School
* Texas State students serve as tutors
* Art Space utilizes Texas State students to do internships at the center and teach art
* Dance classes are offered through a diversity grant from the city
* They offer accordion classes
* There are 2 student recitals per year for kids and the center furnishes classes, costumes, and the recital itself
* All classes are free
* Book readings are offered
* The center has a $100K annual budget from 30 funding streams
* You can find out more about the center at their website:  http://www.sanmarcoscentro.org

The center is hosting a Gala on September 30th.  John Quinones is the key speaker.  Sponsorships are available and tickets are $75 per ticket.  For more information, see Charlie Campise in our club or visit the website.
